Guidos Italian Market recently opened in its new location at 1201 Main Avenue in the Lofts at 1201 building.  Guidos offers a very italian lunch menu, great italian wines and as always, take home dinners.   We wish Sean and Susan the best of luck in their new location.

City Council adopted the 2007 Update to the City's Comprehensive Plan at the regular meeting on Tuesday, March 6th.  Most of the testimony heard by Council that evening was in favor of the plan.  The plan presented that evening took several years to craft with intense work being done over the last two years.  The few citizens that spoke in opposition to the plan focused on the Twin Buttes property which in the 2007 plan update allowed clustered residential development on a portion of the property.  Most don't remember, however, that the 1997 Comprehensive Plan called Twin Buttes one of the four important large parcels that the will be used in the future to provide housing stock.  The density of Twin Buttes at that time far exceeds the reduction proposed in the 2007 Comprehensive Plan Update.  Those calling for Twin Buttes to be open space were challenged by Councilman Doug Lyon who summarized this anti-development sentiment by explaining the recent debacle in Telluride where the Town must now come up with 50 million dollars to purchase the land it condemned as open space.  The owner of that land originally proposed a clustered residential development and agreed to dedicate the majority of the land as open space.  The Town of Telluride instead refused to allow the development and condemned the land to preserve the valley floor as open space.  A reasonable compromise could have saved the Town a huge sum of money.
